Millions use chatbots for companionship, therapy, reflection, instruction, comfort & other reasons. Training commercial systems with intimate information, providing the raw data for a powerful future system to build powerful psychological maps.
Different by Design
Developed by Stormport and built upon the Psynapp framework, Okaybot is being designed as a private, bounded and transparently non-human wellbeing agent whose purpose is not simply to assist, but to support the ongoing positive psychological development of the people using it.
Most general-purpose chatbots are designed to maintain engagement and prolong conversation, not necessarily to strengthen wellbeing, support independent judgement, or protect the user’s agency. They can reinforce distorted thinking, validate unhelpful beliefs, and create the feeling of being understood by something that does not understand in any human sense.
Okaybot is IMCE’s response to increasingly personified AI. It begins from a different premise: that support technologies should be honest about what they are, grounded in a coherent model of human development, bounded in their role, and designed to strengthen awareness, judgement and self-direction over time.
Artificial relationships are very likely to become a normal part of everyday life. These technologies will not go away, so our aim is to provide a non-extractive, psychologically safer alternative, one that places human development, privacy and agency at its centre.
Built on the Psynapp Framework
Most AI systems generate responses from statistical patterns in language. Okaybot is different. Beneath the conversation sits Psynapp, an integrated framework that provides direction, helping the system support awareness, perspective and personal development rather than conversation for its own sake.
Rather than simply generating responses, Okaybot is being designed to help people gain perspective, strengthen awareness, clarify patterns of thought, and support deeper participation in everyday life. The framework remains intentionally in the background. The experience is designed to feel natural, while drawing upon a coherent underlying model of human development.
Okaybot is being developed according to a number of core principles:
1. Private
Your inner life is not the product.
2. Non-Extractive
Designed around the person, not engagement.
3. Transparent
Clear about what it is.
4. Bounded
Knows the limits of its role.
5. Centred on Human-Development
Built around an integrated model of human development.
6. Outward Facing
Designed to return attention to life beyond the screen.
Currently in Development
Okaybot is currently under active development as part of the wider Stormport platform.
